Sunsets in Hawai’i are some of the most beautiful I have ever witnessed. Along the small island beach on the west shore of Maui, I found myself scrambling to find the right composition at Secret Beach. I’d spent a number of sunsets and sunrises each trip over the past 4 years at this location, trying to get the perfect capture. And yet I had never quiet found my voice. I felt as though I just hadn’t connected everything together in that perfect way that awakens something inside of me screaming, “This is the shot!” As the sun began to dip below Kaho’olawe I suddenly found my voice, I had found my vision! With waves crashing along the black volcanic rocks and the fading sun illuminating the palm trees above the water, I’d at last found the secret of Secret Beach. Photo © copyright by Ted Davis.
