It is what fairy tales are made from, stepping delicately through the field of sunflowers in the faint morning light I smiled to myself as beautiful pastel colors began to fill the sky above me. I had been searching for just such a field for years, ever since I sat spellbound on a train in southern France as rows after rows and fields after fields of sunflowers rushed past. Now, set up with my camera in this magical field, I stood shoulder to shoulder with the sunflowers facing the rising sun, waiting on the new day to begin. Pink, Orange, Purple, and Gold seeped further in to the sky and along the horizon, heralding the coming of a new day. As the sun peaked out behind the hills in the distance, I joined in this glorification of a new day, a daily ritual of Sunflower Adulation. Photo © copyright by Ted Davis.
